An intriguing novel based on the true account of widowed English woman who lived in Siam--modern day Thailand-- to work in the palace as a governess for the King's children from his many wives. Anna developed a unique relationship with the king, daring to withstand him on some of the things that happened in his palace. She became a sort of advocate for his wives and children but she did not always get him around to her point of view. The author based this story on Anna's writing and old court records.
